What makes veterinary websites win me over
I would say that there are a lot of veterinary websites floating about the web. Probably veterinary websites for each vet practice, and these sites range from the simple single page kind to the flashy elaborate kind with sounds and videos. I am not always smitten with veterinary websites simply because they have animations and look really expensive. Costly looking veterinary websites just say to me that the clinic is trying really hard to get my attention, which they still may, but because of the message that the site relays, not because of the amount of money poured into it. At the heart of each vet practice are the people who work there. From the reception desk to the doctors, I want to know the humans that are behind the practice and comprise the entity that will be caring for my animal.
I am drawn to veterinary websites that are able to help me get to know the people who work there. I want to know their education, their work history, how long they have been at the office and why they love working there. I want to hear stories about their own pets and why they love animals so much. If veterinary websites can make me feel like the people who will be looking after my pets will be compassionate to them, respectful to me and competently provide for all their health care needs, then they will be successful in winning my business. I have seen sites that are merely a homemade page with links to bios of each employee that have done a good enough job of selling the people that I have chosen that veterinary office based solely on that simple site. Veterinary websites can certainly be as elaborate as they clinic would like, just as long as they remember who they are and why they are in the veterinary business.
